The National Aeronautics and Space Administration is an independent agency of the U.S. federal government in charge of the civilian space program and research. Utilizing the most advanced technologies, NASA has joined forces with social media to expand their audience and bring space exploration knowledge to thousands of people worldwide. NASA selected The Internet Archive under a non-exclusive Space Act agreement to make available to the public images, videos, and audio content under “The Commons.” hundreds of thousands of pictures and thousands of video and audio content open to the public. Under “The Commons,” an entity whose fundamental goal is to share hidden treasures from the world’s public photography archives. Participant institutions have made available photographs under a new usage guideline called “no known copyright restrictions.”
